Founded in 1879 as "Schütz & Hertel", NEUMAN & ESSER Maschinenfabrik Wurzen GmbH can look back on more than 140 years of company history. Since 1991, the successful company has been an important pillar of NEUMAN & ESSER. About 130 employees work at the NEUMAN & ESSER site in Wurzen, near Leipzig. Here, compressors for the smaller capacity range up to 2,700 kW drive power are produced. In addition to API 618 compressors, piston compressors are also manufactured to NEUMAN & ESSER standards at Maschinenfabrik Wurzen. A special expertise is the sophisticated oxygen compression as well as the construction of acetylene compressors.

In January 2023, NEUMAN & ESSER was able to add the company HEINSCH Metall + Anlagenbau to the group. After NEUMAN & ESSER had discontinued plant engineering in Germany in 2005, however, many positive experiences were made in this area in the following years at the locations in Brazil, Thailand, and India. In Mülheim a.d. Ruhr, the company was also able to gain experience with its own packaging in Germany. In 2021, the decision was made to reintegrate plant engineering into the Group as its own know-how in Germany as well. With the purchase of the Boschstraße site, sufficient space was gained to pack complete hydrogen refueling stations (HRS), electrolyzers as well as oil plants in Übach-Palenberg.
Until 1992, HEINSCH Metall + Anlagenbau belonged to the VEB Maschinenfabrik und Eisengießerei Wurzen just like the Maschinenfabrik Wurzen. Founded in 1892, HEINSCH specializes in the construction and packaging of tanks, oil plants, pump and compressor skids. In Dresdener Straße, 21 employees work for NEUMAN & ESSER under the management of Martin Predöhl and Jens Wulff.
